XYZ Supply is a distributor of roofing and solar materials. We are not the manufacturer of the products we sell. All product warranties are issued by the respective manufacturer and pass through to the end customer.
1. XYZ Supply's Role
As a distributor, XYZ Supply sources products from reputable manufacturers, sells to licensed contractors, does not manufacture or engineer any products, does not extend independent product warranties beyond what the manufacturer provides, and will assist in connecting customers with manufacturer warranty support when possible.
2. Manufacturer Warranty Pass-Through
When you purchase through XYZ Supply, the manufacturer's warranty transfers to you. To ensure warranty eligibility, products must be installed by a licensed contractor per manufacturer specifications and local building codes, used for their intended purpose, and registered with the manufacturer if registration is required for warranty activation.
3. Typical Warranty Periods by Category
The following are general warranty ranges. Specific periods vary by manufacturer and product tier. Consult product documentation for exact terms.
Architectural Shingles
30 years to Lifetime (prorated after year 10). Wind warranties typically 130 mph with proper installation.
3-Tab Shingles
Typically 25 years. Wind warranty typically 60-70 mph.
Roofing Underlayment
Typically 12-25 years depending on product type. Synthetic underlayments generally carry longer warranties.
Solar Panels
Product warranty: typically 10-12 years. Power performance warranty: typically 25 years at 80%+ rated output.
String Inverters
Typically 5-12 years standard, with optional 20-25 year extended warranties from major brands.
Microinverters
Typically 25 years. Leading brands offer industry-leading coverage on individual unit performance.
Racking and Mounting
Typically 10-25 years on structural components. Corrosion resistance varies by material.
Flat Roofing (TPO/EPDM)
Typically 10-30 years depending on membrane thickness. Requires certified installer for full warranty.
4. How to File a Warranty Claim
- Email sales@xyzsupply.com with order number, product details, description, and photos of the issue.
- XYZ Supply will provide the manufacturer's warranty contact information and facilitate the initial claim when possible.
- The manufacturer reviews the claim, potentially requesting photos, installation documentation, or an on-site inspection.
- If approved, the manufacturer determines the remedy: replacement material, prorated credit, or full replacement depending on warranty type and timeline.
Keep your XYZ Supply order confirmation and product packaging with lot or batch numbers until installation is complete and the warranty period is established.
5. What Is NOT Covered
- Damage from improper installation or failure to follow manufacturer instructions
- Damage from weather events beyond rated specifications (hail, hurricane-force winds, floods)
- Normal wear and tear or cosmetic degradation over time
- Damage from foot traffic, ponding water, or improper maintenance
- Products installed in unintended applications
- Products modified, altered, or repaired with non-approved materials
- Consequential damages such as interior water damage or project downtime
6. Limitation of XYZ Supply's Liability
XYZ SUPPLY PROVIDES NO INDEPENDENT PRODUCT WARRANTY. ALL WARRANTIES ARE THOSE OF THE RESPECTIVE MANUFACTURER. XYZ SUPPLY'S SOLE OBLIGATION IS TO ASSIST THE CUSTOMER IN ACCESSING THE MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY PROCESS. XYZ SUPPLY SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR THE OUTCOME OF ANY MANUFACTURER WARRANTY CLAIM, NOR FOR ANY CONSEQUENTIAL, INCIDENTAL, OR INDIRECT DAMAGES ARISING FROM PRODUCT DEFECTS. IN NO EVENT SHALL XYZ SUPPLY'S LIABILITY EXCEED THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE PRICE OF THE AFFECTED PRODUCT.
